Meet our Elders

 

According to our bylaws the Board of Elders at NewSong shall exercise authority on behalf of Christ, establishing and maintaining the policies and practices of the Church, to the glory of God. Our Elders welcome your inquiries and input as they shepherd the church. Please contact any of them via telephone or email.

 

Steve Jackson, 770-887-0510, pastorstevej@bellsouth.net Steve Jackson is founding pastor of NewSong Community Church. The Jackson family includes wife Donna, and children Amy and Leigh. Donna teaches at Forsyth Central High School. Amy is a missionary currently working with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) in Los Angeles, California. Leigh is a Senior at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Steve's parents Barbara and Jack are also members of  NewSong. The Jacksons live about two miles from the church in the Nichols Creek subdivision in Cumming.

Brian Brown,770-888-2328,  brianlbrown@bellsouth.net Brian Brown is a project manager for Sun Architectural products in Alpharetta, a manufacturer of glass guardrails. Brian also occasionally plays bass in the NewSong praise band. His family includes wife Rebecca and children Emily, Michael, Grace, and Ian. Brian and his family moved to Georgia from Florida and live in the northern Forsyth County in the Twelve Oaks Subdivision.

Jerry Cauley, 770-889-9452, JCauley@forsyth.k12.ga.us  Jerry was born in Hot Springs, Virginia, grew up and went to school there, and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1974. He moved to Georgia in 1981 and has now lived in Cumming for twenty five years. Jerry is currently the Athletic Director at Forsyth Central High School, where he has worked since 1985. He has a degree in health, physical education, recreation, and driver education, and in 2004 passed the national test to become an Athletic Administrator. Jerry grew up in the Presbyterian Church, joining Windy Cove Presbyterian at the age of twelve. After moving to Georgia, he attended Cumming Methodist Church for a while before joining First Christian Church in 1986. At First Christian, Jerry served one term as an elder and two additional terms as a deacon. Jerry has attended NewSong since our opening Sunday in April, 2000. Jerry and his wife Janet are active members at NewSong where he also serves as an usher and greeter. They have one son, Chris, a former NewSong praise band member, who is an aspiring recording artist and song writer.

 

 Vacant Position

Linda Blanchard, 678-513-7773, lkblanchard@comcast.net Linda has lived in GA for 6 years. Prior to coming to Georgia and to NewSong she was a member of New Life Wesleyan Church in Mooresville, IN.  There she was a Sunday School teacher for teens and and also taught children aged 6-10 as well as nursery age children. Linda was also involved in the Women's Group, which had bake sales, garage sales, other fund raising functions.  Linda is well acquainted with church life and has six ministers in her extended family. Linda is married to John Blanchard and lives off Buford Dam Road in the Canongate Subdivision in Cumming. She is employed by the Hartford Life Insurance Company and has attended NewSong since August, 2001.

Vicki Eitel, 770-889-0285, vickieitel@earthlink.net Vicki was born and raised in Clearwater, FL and attended Skycrest United Methodist Church.  She attended Georgia Institute of Technology and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.  Vicki is married to David Eitel and has two children, Katherine and Andrew.  Vicki is a homemaker and homeschools her children.  She helped plant a Methodist church in 1996 and has held positions as Nursery Coordinator, Adult Sunday School teacher, Co-leader of Family Ministries, Discipleship Ministry Leader, and Ministry Area Facilitator. Vicki and her family live in the Stonehaven Subdivision in Cumming. Vicki has attended NewSong since September, 2002.
