Q: Where do you hold your services?

A: At present we meet on at 9:00 AM for Sunday School and at 10:30 AM for worship at our worship center located at 230 Elm Street in the Central Plaza Center across from the Cumming Post Office. We also have a seasonal Sunday Night Bible Study that meets from 6 - 7:30PM on Sunday evenings.

Q: What are your plans for a permanent location?

A: Our long-term goal is to have a facility of our own in the Forsyth/South Dawson County area somewhere along the GA 400 corridor.   

Q: How do I join the church?

A: To join NewSong we ask that you take our basic membership class to become more acquainted with our beliefs and what we are trying to accomplish as a church. Please contact our pastor and let him know of your interest in joining and he'll get you lined up to take the membership class.

Q: What do you believe about Baptism at NewSong?

A: We believe baptism is the rite of incorporation into the universal body of believers. We practice believer's baptism by immersion, sprinkling or pouring. Baptism is one of two Sacraments we celebrate (the other is Holy Communion).

Q: How was the church mission chosen for NewSong?

A: We used several good sources when working on our church mission or purpose. The first place we looked, of course, was to Jesus’ ministry on earth. The church’s prime function is to continue the ministry of Christ. The second source for our church mission was the image of the church found in Scripture. Still another determining factor in our church’s mission was the commission Christ gave every church (Matt. 28:19-20). These elements, coupled with where the church is being planted and the gifts and talents of those God is using to plant NewSong were the main criterion used in deciding upon our mission as a church which is to “Love God, Grow to be like Jesus, and Share with the world. “

Q: What about Children and Youth?

A: We have a great group of children and youth at NewSong. In addition to Sunday School our children have the option of staying in our worship service or to attend a special Junior Worship time geared just for them. We also have a great children's ministry program with activities for kids on Wednesday evenings.

Our youth also have Sunday School and meet weekly for youth group on Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30pm.  At these sessions the youth learn and grow through fellowship, worship, Bible Study and more.

Q: What do you mean by “contemporary worship?”

A: Contemporary worship takes a wide variety of formats and styles, therefore different groups define it in different ways. At NewSong we consider any worship that embodies the following to be “contemporary.”

Contemporary Worship...

• Creates a vital encounter between those present and the living Christ and the grace of God.
• Is lively and interesting.
• Is Understandable to all.
• Is Biblical.
• Is relevant to the issues of the participant’s lives.
• Will challenge the participants to change.

Q: What does it mean to be a "non-denominational" church?

A: A non-denominational church is simply one that is not affiliated with a denomination. There is no such thing as a "typical" non-denominational church, each one is different. NewSong has very traditional beliefs and practices and so would be considered a "mainline" non-denominational church.

Q: What words that describe the climate at NewSong?

A: Some words used by visitors to NewSong include: Genuine, caring, mission focused, casual, friendly, empowering, different, practical, family-minded and Christ-centered.

Q: Why should a person come to NewSong?

A: Knowing God is a life-changing experience available to everyone. We believe people can experience God and undergo genuine life change, no matter what the circumstances. Everything we do is geared towards this end.
