Nursery Ministry
WELCOME to the nursery ministry at NewSong Church. We hope that both parents and
children will feel at home in our nursery. Our primary purpose is to facilitate
and enhance your family's time of worship, study and service at NewSong by
providing a safe, sanitary, and loving environment for your child. Our nursery
currently falls under the wonderful care of Melanie
Davis, our Nursery Coordinator. Should you have any comments about
our nursery or any questions not answered below, please contact Melanie and she
will be glad to talk with you.
MISSION STATEMENT
We are dedicated to the following:
- Providing your child with all
the love and care necessary for a happy stay in the nursery.
- Providing a safe, sanitary,
and loving environment -- a place for little ones to rest, eat, be changed,
make noise, expend energy, and play freely.
- Providing parents with the
security of knowing their child is well cared for allowing them the
opportunity to worship without worry.
POLICIES
The following policies are designed to benefit you and your child:
- Please bring only well
children to the nursery. Sick children endanger the health of other children
and adults. Please do not bring your child to the nursery if he or she has
any of the following or symptoms: fever, vomiting or diarrhea, unusual
fatigue or irritability, coughing, sneezing, or runny eyes, or sore throat.
- Take advantage of the entire
Sunday program. Visiting your child before you are ready to go home often
leaves a child upset.
- The nursery workers need to
know in advance if someone other than a parent will be picking up your
child.
PROCEDURES
The following procedures will make it simple and easy to use the nursery:
- Let your child know that the
nursery is a safe place to play and be with friends. Tell him you will be
back to get him in a short time.
- It's hard to say goodbye. Our
experience has been that it is easier on all parties to make it short and
sweet.
- Equip your child for a
comfortable stay by bringing two extra diapers, bottles or food, pacifier
(if your child uses one), and a complete change of clothes. Any special
needs should be written down and pinned to the child's bag. Clearly label
your child's belongings.
- Sign in your child on the
sheet provided at the entrance each Sunday. A registration card will be
completed at least once yearly.
- Deliver your child, equipment
and accessories to the nursery staff at the door. Try to avoid coming into
the nursery area itself. This promotes a cleaner, safer space, and ensures
the safety of other children.
PAID STAFF AND
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
We have a pre-screened and trained staff of two persons per nursery room to
safely and lovingly care for your child at NewSong. We do this so each parent
can feel safe with two people in the room with the children. Occasionally we
also have parent volunteers in the room. We encourage you to get to know our
staff and parent volunteers and to encourage them.
We also encourage parents to participate in the operation of the nursery.
Parents may volunteer once a month, once a quarter, or may be placed on our
"on-call" list when regular staff is limited. Participation is an
opportunity to acquaint yourself with the staff as well as your child's
playmates. Please see Melissa Tidwell to place your name on the annual calendar or
"on-call" list. We always appreciate the extra hands and loving
hearts.
A FINAL MESSAGE
We are constantly striving to upgrade the nursery. Please let us know of your
concerns and ideas for improvement. We see our work here as a trust. It is a joy
to work with your child.
The Little
Children and Jesus
"Let the little children
come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as
these. "
I tell you the truth, anyone who
will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter. "
And he took the children in his
arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
